Sydney Road carries you most of the way

Coburg is directly south of us, so this is a run up the road rather than a trip across town. Follow Sydney Road north over Bell Street, past Coburg station and the Pentridge walls, and we are east of Sydney Road on Newlands Road.

Sydney Road traffic eats brake pads

If your week is spent in that traffic, brakes come around sooner than you expect. Stop and start driving works the pads harder than open road kilometres do. We measure the pads and the discs, tell you what is left on them, and quote before anything comes apart.

Tyres come in just as often. Kerbside parking on the side streets is hard on sidewalls, and a nail picked up near the shops is often a repair rather than a new tyre. Tyres are supplied, fitted and balanced here, and we read the wear pattern in case it is pointing at something underneath.

Where exactly are you from the Coburg shops?
We are at 1/87 Newlands Road, Coburg North, north of Bell Street and east of Sydney Road. The shopfront carries the service board and the VACC member sign, so you will pick it out from the road. Can you replace brake pads the same day?
Sometimes, and it depends on what the measurement shows and what is on the shelf for your model. We check the pads, the discs and the fluid first, ring you with the price, and start once you agree. If a disc has to be machined or a part ordered in, you hear that on the phone rather than after the wheels are off.
Do you fit tyres, or only service the car?
Both. We fit and balance tyres in the workshop, and a puncture is plugged and patched from the inside wherever the damage allows a safe repair. If the tread is wearing unevenly across the tyre we will say so, because that usually points at alignment or a worn suspension part rather than at the tyre itself.
Do I need to book, or can I just turn up?
