Car service in Brunswick

AutoworkX is on Newlands Road in Coburg North, north of Brunswick up Sydney Road. Engine diagnostics, batteries, brakes and logbook servicing, with European and prestige work a large part of the week.

Once you clear the tram tracks it is an easy run

Brunswick is south of us and the trip is one road for most of it. Sydney Road runs north past Moreland Road, up through Coburg and into Coburg North, and we are east of it on Newlands Road. Past the shopping strip the traffic thins out and the driving gets easy.

Short trips are hard on a battery

A run to the shops and back rarely gets the engine properly warm, and that shows up as a battery that will not hold charge and, on newer cars, as a light on the dash. We test the battery and the charging system together instead of swapping the battery and hoping.

Engine diagnostics fills out the rest. A stored code tells us where to look, not what to replace, so the part the code points at gets tested before we quote. If the light came on and then went out again, the code is usually still sitting in the module and we can read it.

European servicing done to the maker's book

Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen and Mini are a regular part of the work here. The service is done to the maker's schedule with an oil that meets the specification for your engine rather than whatever is in the drum, the service indicator is reset properly, and the book is stamped so the history stays intact.

The car comes off the street and onto a hoist

Finding somewhere to leave a car in Brunswick while someone works on it is its own problem, so yours comes inside instead of sitting on a street watching the clock on a parking sign. If you need it back by a set time, say so when you book and the day gets built around that.

Message us and we come back with a day

Weekdays we run 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm, with Sunday closed. Mobile 0451 109 786, workshop 03 7054 8232, or WhatsApp us the make, model and what the car is doing and we will come back with a day.

Common questions

The car only ever does short trips. Is that a problem?
It can be. A short run never gets the oil hot enough to drive off the moisture and fuel that collect in it, and it does not put back what starting the car took out of the battery. Cars driven that way are better serviced on time rather than on kilometres, and a battery test before winter is worth the few minutes.
Can you get the right oil and parts for a European car?
Yes. The oil specification for a European engine is set by the manufacturer rather than by the workshop, so we work to the figure in the book for your model and year and match the filter to it. If a part has to come from a supplier rather than off the shelf, you hear that when we quote rather than after the car is apart.
Can I leave the car with you overnight?
Ask when you book, because it depends on the job and on how the day falls. If a part has to arrive the following morning, leaving the car can save you a second trip up from Brunswick. Ring or message with the make and model and we will tell you what the work needs before you plan the week around it.
Can you look at a used car before I buy it?
Yes, we take pre-purchase inspections on. The car goes on a hoist so the mechanical condition, the brakes, the tyres and the suspension can be checked properly, and we scan for stored fault codes at the same time. Arrange with the seller to bring the car to us on Newlands Road and ring with a time that suits you both.

Straight up Sydney Road. Book a day and leave the parking to us.
